GOING GRAY ON MY BIRTHDAY

My birthday is coming up quickly and my wonderful hubby (who I really don't give enough credit to) is getting my room painted for me as a present. Since my walls are a light gray, I decided to go with a darker gray in my bedroom and jazz it up with funky colours. However, the colour turned out lighter than I thought. And guess what? I FREAKIN' LOVE IT!! It is so calm and serene
As you can see from these pictures, I have a smallish window on the main wall in my bedroom. Against hubby's orders, I put the bed under the window. However, I used the designer trick I learned from Candace Tells All, and put the curtains out farther than the window actually is. What a huge difference. Now that whole wall looks like it is the window.
What a neat design trick that is!! You might not notice, but the globe in my overhead light isn't there anymore. I broke it flipping the mattress. CRAP! Oh well, I guess I will have to go out and buy one. Along with my new duvet cover, that I am picking up this weekend!! Stay turned to more fabulocity (I think I made up a new word), as my room adventures continue! Pin It

TEACH AN OLD DOG NEW TRIX

We have a beautiful bedroom set, but it is old. It is 6 years old and in dire need of a facelift. So, while the painting in my bedroom was going on, I decided to tackle the dresser and armoire. They had previously been cream with wooden tops and wooden handles. YIKES. A while ago, I painted the tops black, but couldn't find any hardware that I liked. I have lived with this for 2 years
Pretty blah, isn't it? Well, since I got my room painted as an early birthday present (more on that later), I decided to go with black and pure white for the furniture. Turned out pretty nice, if I do say so myself.
I am slowly doing something every day with my room and will do the "reveal" after my duvet cover comes in. So excited!!! Anybody else like the sheer simplicity of black and white? Pin It

CALL ME

I love all of the old retro telephone stands that I see everywhere. I, however, can never find one. HELLO GOODWILL and their recently returned 1/2 price Friday!!!!
I got this for $5.04 and am so excited!!!! I was going to paint it yellow, but it was a little boring. So, I decided to find fabric and then decide on a colour. I went to fabricland (alone) and was able to browse without anybody whining (woo hoo). I found some material, but it was in another woman's arms!!! I sooooo wanted to grab it and run, but I figured I had to be polite and ask her whether she was planning to buy all of it. She graciously let me buy my 1/2 metre and give it back to her. I am in love, sigh.
Isn't it pretty? I thought it would go with the yellow, but it gets washed out by the light colour. What to do, what to do?? I know, go FUSHIA!!!
It was a little bright for the kitchen, so I used my trusty maple walnut stain and toned it down. I reattached the seat, and look what I got!!!
Diego gets in every single picture I take. Crazy dog. I put the bench under my window and added the phone and a pencil holder. I love it!
Now, the kitchen matches this pink pumpkin
Anybody else bringing some colour into an otherwise dull room? Partying here
